'It's so embarrassing', 'Sad to see' - Many RFC fans react to Jordan Campbell tweet
Glasgow Rangers have had to contend with the current pandemic over the last few months, as have the rest of the footballing world, but that hasn’t been the only big talking point across the world in recent months.
The Ibrox outfit will have watched on as the Black Lives Matter movement has gathered speed following the tragic death of George Floyd. We have seen several protests since then, and there has been plenty of support in football – we have seen Premier League teams and players take the knee prior to kick off since England’s top tier returned.
The Gers played against Lyon in the Veolia Trophy on Thursday, and the 54-time Scottish champions’ players took the knee as well. This led to plenty of resistance from the club’s supporters, with many unhappy with the support for an organisation that has come under scrutiny.
Jordan Campbell shared a tweet showing his disappointment that many of the fans were so unhappy with the actions of the players, and many agreed with him. They took to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
You’re absolutely right, it’s an individual choice and nobody should be discriminated against for doing it. Some comments on here are just wrong .

100% @JordanC1107
Black people are only expressing how they feel given the experiences of prejudice they have faced. It’s the unacceptable discrimination that of our friends we are suupport not the people who created BLM.

Some people are purposely refusing to differentiate between the organisation & the message the players are supporting. Sad to see. But they have been roundly called out, thankfully.

So many get all their facts from social media with many unable to think for themselves, more so most wouldn’t voice the opinions they do on here in a real life setting, sad we have this element in our support who act this way though…

Some sections of our support are an absolute embarrassment. But we’re not alone in that. Every football club has this problem
Unfortunately social media means we’re subjected to the shameful comments from these people a lot more regularly.— Bruce Burns (@brucers9) July 17, 2020
It’s so embarrassing. People have latched onto saying they are against the organisation as a cover for their own racism. No matter how many positive ones there are in there, the focus is rightly on the many negatives comments. Must be horrendous for our own players to see them.
