Arsenal shocked many as they managed to progress to the FA Cup final after beating Manchester City 2-0 at Wembley.
Mikel Arteta managed the game perfectly and even though Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the match for large periods, the Gunners being able to keep a clean sheet after losing 3-0 to Manchester City in June is a testament to how far they have come in a short period of time.
Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored both the goals, and showed why he is so crucial to the club. He clearly enjoyed the victory, as he posted a picture on Instagram of himself celebrating during the match with his team mates, and part of his caption said, ‘That’s a team performance!!!’
This is a great message and supporters will love it as it emphasises the great team spirit in the squad under Arteta, a far cry from late 2019 under Unai Emery where there were reports of a split in the Arsenal dressing room (Daily Star).
The Gunners now face a London rival in the FA Cup final as they will take on Frank Lampard’s Chelsea who beat Manchester United.
If the Spaniard can come away with a trophy in his first season as Arsenal manager, then supporters will be very excited for the future, and understandably so.
