Sheff Utd signing £25m-valued ace who stunned Real Madrid would be a risk - Opinion
Recent reports are suggesting that Sheffield United are not put off by the valuation placed on transfer target Emmanuel Dennis.
Sheffield United have no qualms with paying the £25m Club Brugge want for Nigerian striker Dennis. The Blades are keen on strengthening their strikers in the transfer window, and Dennis is near the top of their list, per voetbalbelgie.
Clubs linked in the past have included Arsenal, Everton, Leicester, Manchester United and Crystal Palace, who are all monitoring him, but it is not known whether these clubs would be willing to pay the fee.
This season the 22 year-old has managed nine goals in 35 appearances in the Belgian first division whilst assisting twice, per Transfermarkt, this isn’t the best goal tally for someone who would cost the club such a vast amount of money. In fact they only recently broke their transfer record when buying young Sander Berge and whilst Dennis wouldn’t cost quite as much, his fee would still be a large chunk of Chris Wilder’s budget.
However his price is arguably fairly high due to his potential, which he showed in a great performance in the Champions League against Real Madrid where he scored twice at the Bernabeu.
So the Blades could have a great player for the future and if he does succeed, the price they are willing to pay would seem cheap.
You could argue it is a risk, but with the other Premier League clubs interested, Dennis clearly has potential and it could be a really clever signing.
