Manchester City fans want to sign Alex Grimaldo this summer after they were linked with a move for the left-back.
The Citizens are preparing for the new campaign as they look for more silverware. Last term, they won both the Premier League and the League Cup, but their 1-0 defeat to Chelsea in the final of the Champions League in Porto means they have something fresh to aim for once the new season gets under way.
At left-back, City do not quite have the same quality as in other positions. There, Oleksandr Zinchenko is the first-choice option, but he is naturally a midfielder, while Benjamin Mendy has failed to live up to the expectations set when he signed for the Etihad Stadium outfit in 2017 for a huge £52m (BBC). As such, the Citizens have opened negotiations with Benfica for Grimaldo, according to Pedro Almeida. The Portuguese outfit are said to be looking for €30m (£25.6m).
