"We have to wait and see" - Exclusive: Graham Roberts drops transfer verdict involving Tottenham
Former Tottenham Hotspur star Graham Roberts believes that Davinson Sanchez staying at the club could rule out a deal to sign another centre-back this summer.
The club have already been active in the transfer window after appointing Fabio Paratici as their new Director of Football.
A deal to bring Cristian Romero into the club from Atalanta has been completed, with the central defender initially arriving on loan, with the option to make the deal permanent.
Spurs have continually been linked with another centre-back, including Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.
However, Roberts believes that Spurs’ failure to sell Sanchez, despite the player being linked away, could see Spurs call time on their pursuit of another defender.
Of course, Sanchez started the 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday alongside Eric Dier, as the club kept a clean sheet and secured three surprising points. The club also have Romero and Joe Rodon on their books, along with Japhet Tanganga, who can play at centre-back and at right-back.
Speaking to The Transfer Tavern, he said: “You’ve got Joe Rodon there as well. So we have to wait and see.
“Nuno, I’m sure he’s working hard with his backroom staff to see who’s fit and who he wants to play.”
