'Good news for Spurs' - Alasdair Gold drops big claim involving 'phenomenal' ace and Man City
Alasdair Gold has claimed that Cristian Romero could now be involved for Tottenham Hotspur in their opening game of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
The Lowdown: Romero double jabbed
As per The Evening Standard journalist Dan Kilpatrick, Romero has been double jabbed ahead of his imminent move to Spurs, and so he is not expected to have to quarantine.
It raises the possibility that he will be at their friendly game against Arsenal on Sunday, although it is ‘unlikely’ that he will play any part due to his lack of training with the rest of the squad as well as his exploits in the Copa America over the summer.
The Latest: Gold reacts
Reacting to the news on his Twitter page, football.london journalist Gold has reaffirmed that Romero being double jabbed is ‘good news for Spurs’.
He also went one further and stated that the towering defender could now be involved in their opening match in the top flight at home against Manchester City, assuming that he has a full week of training and fitness work at Hotspur Way.
The Verdict: Big boost
It is certainly great news that Romero could be involved against Pep Guardiola’s men, as the North London club are going to need every bit of help they can get if they are going to get a positive result against the holding Premier League champions.
Described as a ‘phenomenal’ player by Serie A expert Conor Clancy after winning the MVP award for being the best defender in the division (This Is Futbol), Romero will add more stability and assurance in the heart of Nuno Espirito Santo’s defence.
In a game in front of home fans as well, it will be good for the Lilywhites to see their new signing in action.
