Sports'Slipping left, right and centre' - Pundit reveals Gers 'danger' that may 'derail' title charge
Former Rangers boss Alex McLeish recently revealed what he thinks could ‘derail’ the Gers’ title charge, as well as stating his belief that the league has not been won by the Ibrox club just yet.
Speaking to Football Pass UK (via Record Sport), McLeish, who managed the Ibrox side between 2001 and 2006, claimed that, despite believing that Gers ‘can win this title’, he feels an injury could ‘derail’ the club’s chances of winning the league at any point, as well as stating that ‘Celtic are definitely capable of catching (up)’.
He said: “That’s why you can never say that the league is finished, because if you lose any more players through injuries or suspension then anything can happen. It can disrupt your momentum so severely. Celtic are definitely capable of catching if Rangers are caught off guard or off form and they don’t continue the consistency.
“I really believe that Rangers can win this title, that is my personal view, but I have had experience and good knowledge in the game from the point of view of studying other examples of where they have a really healthy lead and the team that are second look as if they are out of it, but come back and are winning every point and putting pressure on.
“Then the team above you are dropping points and slipping left, right and centre. That is the danger, but at the moment I feel Rangers are well in control of the mental and physical side. An injury can derail you but at the moment they are the go-to team.”

Despite the fact that Rangers have been in magnificent form so far this season, winning an astonishing 21 of their 23 Scottish Premiership games, remaining unbeaten in the league, as well as scoring a whopping 59 goals and conceding just six times, it would appear that McLeish feels the title is far from over just yet, as Neil Lennon’s side could turn their fortunes around in the second half of the season and capitalise on any run of poor form the Gers may suffer.
However, with the bitter rivals currently being 22 points behind Gerrard’s side in the league, perhaps this is just cautious pessimism from the club’s former manager, as it would seem, barring a monumental collapse, that Rangers have the league all but sewn up.
