Sports'We are not interested in late bids' - Everton dealt blow in pursuit of PL transfer target
Everton have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha as Roy Hodgson has claimed in his pre-match press conference ahead of their game against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea (via Sky Sports) that “we are not interested in late bids.”
The Eagles manager went on to add that any possible sale would have to happen in a timeframe which would give them a chance to see what they would like to do with the money, and hopes that he will be able to keep the player and continue to work with him.
Zaha has reportedly been a transfer target for Carlo Ancelotti’s team and perhaps would surely be a good addition to his side, but Hodgson’s latest comments suggest that it is now quite unlikely that he will be leaving Selhurst Park before the summer transfer window officially shuts.
The Ivory Coast international is certainly a man that could get the Goodison Park faithful off of their feet, as he averaged a rather impressive 4.3 successful dribbles and 1.6 shots a match in the top flight in the 2019/20 term, according to Whoscored.
Zaha has also made a very good start to the 2020/21 season, bagging three strikes in three games in England’s highest division so far, as per Transfermarkt.
However, unless the Toffees can come up with a suitable deal to sign the 27-year old fast, then it looks like Zaha will indeed stay at Selhurst Park in what would be a blow to the Blues.
