‘League One standard’ - Many West Brom fans react to European heroics from 'one we let go'
Many West Bromwich Albion fans have reacted after the club’s former academy player Kemar Roofe scored a sublime effort for Rangers last night.
Steven Gerrard’s side produced a superb away performance against Belgian side Standard Liege, with James Tavernier’s 19th-minute penalty and Roofe’s stoppage time strike seal all three points.
The latter was a magnificent moment as the former Baggies striker took possession on the half way line, beat off two defenders and then attempted to lob the Liege ‘keeper. The striker’s attempt proved a success as he wheeled off in celebration of his third goal in seven games for the Scottish side since joining in the summer.
That is sensational! 😲

Roofe, who came up through the youth academy at The Hawthorns, made 78 appearances for the Baggies under-23 side before moving on without featuring for Albion’s first team.
QUIZ: How well do you remember Slaven Bilic’s first season in charge of West Brom?
With Slaven Bilic looking to sign a new striker over the summer, the Croatian moved for Karlan Grant, securing a £15m move for the former Huddersfield man, but many West Brom fans have now looked at Roofe as “one we let go”.
Reacting to the Jamaican’s goal in the Europa League for Rangers, these Baggies fans gave their take on Twitter:
WBA fan reaction to Kemar Roofe stunner
Expecting to go on #wba and see Albion fans saying ‘we should have kept Roofe’ as is customary for any former Albion player if they score a goal on telly

Just waiting for the Gnabry-like tweets for when people learn that he was released from WBA. What a strike #wba https://t.co/DTXaBo0O2W

“We should’ve kept Kemar Roofe” 😂
When he’s scoring goals on a regular basis in the PL, I might agree. In 5 years since leaving he’s gone on to play in league 1, the championship, belgium and then to the SPL (so back to league 1 standard). “SHOULD’VE KEPT HIM” 🙈 #WBA— Calum Blake (@BlakeCalum) October 23, 2020
Another one we let go #wba 😂 https://t.co/mRAASEwoQp

Would’ve been nice if we kept Kemar Roofe😅 What a goal by him #WBA
