'Should be banned', 'Joke' - Many Everton fans fume as controversial incident discussed
Many Everton fans are fuming as the controversial penalty given to James Ward-Prowse for Southampton against the Merseyside club in the 1-1 draw in the Premier League at Goodison Park was discussed on BBC’s Match Of The Day (via The Toffee Blues).
As per the football show, the Premier League Match Centre admitted that the penalty should not have been given, leading to a discussion between Toffees legend Tim Cahill and former top flight striker Dion Dublin.
Perhaps as a justice to the Blues, Ward-Prowse hit the bar from the spot, as the game finished all square following an equaliser from Richarlison after Danny Ings opened the scoring for the Saints.
However, EFC perhaps should have lost the match based off some of the stats, as the Saints had more possession of the ball, as well as more shots and passes recorded, according to Sofascore.
Nevertheless, these supporters fumed on Twitter as they seemed to agree with the pundits:
Ward-Prowse should be banned
