Report: Arsenal willing to offer 27 y/o staggering £10.14m-a-year contract

The latest reports are suggesting that Arsenal will go all out for heavily linked midfielder Thomas Partey as they try to sign him in the summer transfer window.

According to the Metro, via Goal, the Gunners would offer triple Partey’s current wages as they continue to push to sign the midfielder. The Ghanaian is in talks to extend his contract with Atletico, but the club is facing financial issues.

According to The Guardian, Partey takes home a weekly wage of £65,000-a-week, this means Arsenal are willing to offer him a staggering £195,000 a week, which would cost around £10,140,000 million a year.

The 27-year-old was willing to stay at Atletico, but after hearing the new offer laid out by Arsenal, he is tempted to join the North London side.

Partey is a similar type of player to Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira and when you compare their stats, the La Liga powerhouse is having a better campaign as he has managed 2 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game, compared to Xhaka’s 1.7 and 0.8, and Torreira’s 1.2 and 1.3, per WhoScored.

He also seems to be good at bringing the ball forward from midfield as he manages 1.9 successful dribbles a game.

At 27 years-old he is coming to his prime, and if Arsenal can pay the wages without affecting their budget for other transfers, then they should definitely attempt to lure Partey away from La Liga.

The Gunners have only kept seven clean sheets this season, so a good defensive midfield player who is great at breaking up opposition attacks is what Arsenal desperately need and Partey would be an ideal player to come in, no matter the cost.

Gunners fans, would you be ok paying this much for Thomas Partey? Comment below!
